Attendees of your recorded Zoom meetings can be prompted to provide their consent to be recorded. When the recording disclaimer is enabled, attendees will receive a notification when they join a recorded meeting or later when a recording starts mid-meeting. The attendee can either consent to stay in the session or leave.

For step-by-step instructions on how to turn recording disclaimers on for your account (or all users on your account if you're an admin), please review this guide on Zoom's website here: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360026909191-Enabling-the-recording-disclaimer

To enable the recording disclaimer in Zoom for your account use:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation panel, click Settings.
  3. Click the Recording tab.
  4. Verify that Recording Disclaimer is enabled.
  5. If the setting is disabled, click the toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, click Turn On to verify the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the group or account level. You need to contact your Zoom admin.

To enable the recording disclaimer for all users in your Zoom account as an admin:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation panel, click Account Management then Account Settings.
  3. Click the Recording tab.
  4. Verify that Recording Disclaimer is enabled.
  5. If the setting is disabled, click the toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, click Turn On to verify the change.
  6. (Optional) If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account, click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

Customize your Zoom recording disclaimer to explain you'll be using Grain to annotate your recordings.

The fastest way to get your recordings into Grain is to enable the "Live" label under the "Account" tab within your account settings when logged in on the web.

When this "Live" label is on, all participants of the meeting will see a dialogue in the top left corner of their Zoom video window with a message like the following:

A great way to help your meeting participants to understand "Grain App" is to set up a custom message within the recording disclaimer enabled at the Zoom account level and choose "Customize".

Please note you can only customize for an entire team account, not an individual user.

Recommended custom recording disclaimer template:

Title: This meeting is being recorded and annotated with Grain.co

Description: By continuing to be in the meeting, you are consenting to be recorded. If you'd like access to the recording, please ask your host to share it with you. Create your own recordings and highlights at https://grain.co
