How to configure Zaps using Grain to automate your workflow

Updated today

Grain integrates with Zapier, allowing you to automate the repetitive tasks of moving the information captured via Grain—Highlights, Stories, or Recordings—to any of your favorite tools!

Step 1: Log in to or Sign up for Zapier

Log into your Zapier account. If you don’t have an account, sign up for a free Zapier account.

Step 2: Create a Zap!

If you’re new to Zapier, try some of the pre-made examples here. It’s the easiest way to get started.

Set up a custom workflow

  • Click “Create Zap”

  • You need to set a trigger for your Zap. Type "Grain" in the Choose a Trigger 'App Event' search box and select the Grain app.

  • Select a Trigger event from the list based on what you intend to achieve. For instance, if you want to send a complete recording from Grain to any of your work tools, Trigger should be “Recording Added.”

  • Once you select the trigger, you’ll be asked to choose your Grain account. Sign in to your Grain account.

  • You will be taken to the Grain website and asked to log in. Log in using your Grain account information. Then click 'Continue' in Zapier.

  • Next, you can test your Grain Trigger. When you click “Test Trigger,” Zapier will check and let you know if the trigger is working as expected.

  • Once the trigger setup is done, you’ll be able to select an Action. This is what Zapier will do when something is triggered from Grain.

  • Select the App and ‘Action Event.’ For example, if you want to email the recording, then App will be “Gmail” and Event will be “send email.”

  • Follow the rest of the steps until you get to the last window that allows you to click 'Turn on Zap.'

Step 3: Take Your Zap Live

  • Click ‘Turn on Zap’ and you should get confirmation that your new Zap is turned on and ready to go.

  • That’s it! Each time your Zap is triggered your Action will run.
